Jini L. Roby and Jacob Tanner

Short Biographies

Jini L. Roby, JD, MSW, MS, associate professor in the School of Social Work at Brigham Young University, is an attorney and social worker. For most of her professional life, she has focused on serving children and their families, spanning from government child welfare practice to the private practice of law, as well as university teaching and research. Her recent legal projects have included serving as the government's consultant for the Republic of Marshall Islands and Mozambique on their child welfare legislation. She is a trainer for UNICEF Guatemala on providing regulations for ethical and responsive child welfare protection. Her research projects have included international adoption, orphans, and vulnerable children, and developmental approaches to providing permanent families for children in Africa. She is widely published in the child welfare and family preservation arena. Her most recent human trafficking article, ‘US Response to Human Trafficking: Is it Enough?’ is scheduled for publication in 2008.

Jacob Tanner graduated with Honors from Brigham Young University with a BA in Asian Studies and a BS in Psychology in 2006. This is his first publication. He currently works at the US Embassy in Bangkok.
